Altaaj Hijau
Altaaj was a very popular oil and one oud heads loved and craved, released in 2024. There will be some people still enjoying its beauty and many who missed out on the opportunity to secure a bottle. It’s taken nearly 2 years to juice the sister oil, rare incense-grade wild microcarpa wood from Sabah Island, juiced into a narcotic elixir.
Altaaj Hijau translates to Crown of Green, the finest from the Malaysian territory of Borneo Island. Wild incense-grade delight in a bottle. If you’re into piercing, fizzy, aquatic-style ouds that strike you right away, this is made for you. The shade of this oil is a very light green, beautiful to gaze at even before you open and breathe it in. You could readily confuse this oil for a premium Sri Lankan with its green yet tropical vibe.
The source material is pieces of dark, heavily resinous microcarpa wood, pulverized with no soaking, simmered gently at a slow pace, then allowed to settle. The oil is only 1 month old and already smelling complete and well-rounded.
From the dipstick you’re greeted by a range of aquatic green notes, zesty incense, a chip on low heat sizzling away, like the oil is releasing vapor — not thick, heavy or scorched vapor, but clear, concise oudy character.
Once applied there are notes of creamy woodiness, crisp green apple skins, lime mojito, crushed foliage, tart candy, ripe guava, dense rainforests, ambergris and cooling mint. As the oil develops it shifts into a dark spicy profile with clove, cumin, black pepper and licorice. The base focuses on a Meroke-like earthiness, dripping raw oud resin with hints of deeper smoke resting on a cluster of wild blossoms. This oil transports you deep into the rainforests of Borneo with an almost surreal feeling.
This oil delivers a true rollercoaster experience with striking projection and a very complex and unique profile. This oil is just 1 month old and with further maturing it will improve more and more, even though it’s already an exceptional oil.
